An experience that can vary

Some people describe feeling relaxed and absorbed; others notice that they are simply listening closely. You may still hear sounds around you or notice thoughts coming and going. There is no test to pass and no need to perform relaxation for your therapist.

A conversation comes first

Before any hypnosis, Barry asks what you want to work on and explains the proposed approach. You can ask about anything that feels unfamiliar and agree what you are comfortable trying. A session should leave room for your questions, rather than rush past them.

You can speak and pause

The aim is a collaborative session. You can tell Barry if something feels uncomfortable, ask to change direction or stop. If you are unsure about trying hypnosis, mention that in the clarity call so there is time to discuss it.

Bring curiosity, rather than expectations

You do not need to arrive knowing how to relax. A useful starting point is one ordinary situation you would like to handle differently. After the session, there is time to talk about your experience and decide on an appropriate next step.

These guides describe Barry’s approach and are general information, not individual medical advice. For health concerns, speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
