Terms of service

The practical terms that apply when you book hypnotherapy with Barry Honeycombe.

Please read these terms before booking a paid session. They are designed to set clear, fair expectations and do not affect your statutory consumer rights.

1. The service

Barry Honeycombe provides complementary hypnotherapy services in person in Deal, Kent and online. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process involving focused attention, relaxation and agreed therapeutic suggestions or techniques.

It is not medical or psychiatric diagnosis, emergency support, or a replacement for treatment from a GP or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional. Never stop medication or alter treatment without speaking to the prescriber.

Barry works with adults aged 18 or over. He may decline or pause work where the requested service is outside his competence, is not appropriate for hypnotherapy, or would be better supported by another professional.

2. No guarantee of outcome

Barry will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. However, personal change depends on many factors, including engagement and individual circumstances, so a particular outcome or timeframe cannot be guaranteed. Any examples used on the website are illustrative, not promises.

3. Booking, prices and payment

Current guide prices are shown on the services and prices page. The agreed price and likely session length will be confirmed before paid work begins. Payment is due before the session unless agreed otherwise in writing.

A booking is confirmed once Barry accepts it and sends confirmation. Packages are personal to the named client and are not transferable. Unless agreed otherwise, package sessions should be used within six months of purchase.

4. Changes, cancellations and late arrival

Please give at least 48 hours' notice to move or cancel a session. Where less notice is given, Barry may charge the full session fee if the appointment cannot reasonably be filled. Genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances will be considered fairly.

If Barry needs to cancel, he will offer a new appointment or refund the affected session. Barry is not responsible for wider costs resulting from a changed appointment.

If you arrive late, the session may still need to finish at the original time. More than 15 minutes without contact may be treated as a missed appointment.

Distance-booking cancellation rights

Where UK consumer law gives you a 14-day right to cancel a booking made online, by phone or away from business premises, that right is respected. If you ask for a service to begin during the 14-day period, Barry may request your express agreement. If you later cancel within that period, you may need to pay a proportionate amount for service already provided. The right may end once the service has been fully performed with your prior acknowledgement, where the law permits.

5. Your responsibilities

  • Provide information that is accurate enough for Barry to assess whether the service is appropriate.
  • Tell Barry about relevant health conditions, diagnoses, medication or professional care when asked through the secure intake process.
  • Attend free from alcohol or non-prescribed drugs and do not drive or operate machinery while impaired.
  • Participate by choice. You remain responsible for your decisions, actions and wellbeing between sessions.
  • Treat Barry, the space and any online session respectfully.

If your circumstances change or you feel uncomfortable at any point, please say so. You can pause or end an exercise or session.

6. Privacy and confidentiality

Personal information is handled as described in the privacy policy. Sessions are confidential, subject to limited exceptions including a legal requirement, confidential professional or legal consultation, or a serious risk of harm to you or another person. Where safe and lawful, Barry will aim to discuss a disclosure with you first.

7. Online sessions

You are responsible for a private, safe space, a stable connection and a device with working audio and video. Do not join while driving or in another unsafe situation. Barry may stop the session if privacy or safety is inadequate.

If technology fails, both parties will try to reconnect. If a substantial part of the session is lost, a fair alternative will be agreed, which may include continuing by phone, extending the session where possible, or rescheduling the remaining time.

8. Emergencies and safeguarding

Barry Honeycombe Hypnotherapy is not a crisis service. If there is an immediate danger, call 999. For urgent NHS mental health support in England, call 111 and select the mental health option. Samaritans can be contacted free on 116 123.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, Barry is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss or for loss caused by inaccurate information, failure to follow agreed safety guidance, or services outside his reasonable control.

10. Ending the work

You may end the work at any time, subject to payment for sessions already provided and the cancellation terms above. Barry may end the work with reasonable notice, or immediately where there is a safety concern, abusive behaviour, non-payment or another serious reason. Any unused prepaid amount will be handled fairly according to the services remaining and circumstances.

11. Law, complaints and changes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Courts with jurisdiction under consumer law may hear a dispute. If you are dissatisfied, please contact Barry promptly so he can try to resolve the issue fairly.

These terms may be updated for future bookings. The version accepted when you book will apply to that booking unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.
